Texas Lawmakers Discuss Bill to Encourage HPV Shot

Thousands of Texans die from cancer every year, but giving boys and girls the Human papillomavirus vaccine at 11 and 12 years old will help prevent the virus from spreading. HPV can cause several different types of cancer.

“I’ll tell you, I’ve seen young women die of head and neck cancer that is HPV-related and think to myself, this is a preventable disease,” said Texas Oncology physician Dr. Debra Patt.
