The 18th Annual Tyler Breast Cancer Conference 2015, scheduled for March 27-28 at the Harvey Convention Center, will showcase the latest medical breakthroughs, advancements in prevention, and promising new therapies and treatment regimens for breast cancer.

Nationally-renowned experts will join local physicians for a community forum and lecture on Friday, March 27, that is free and open to the public and an educational session for medical practitioners on Saturday, March 28.

The community forum and lecture on March 27 begins at 6:15 p.m. Svetislava Vukelja, M.D., FACP, associate director, breast cancer, Texas Oncology–Tyler and chairman of the conference, is the featured speaker and will relate poignant lessons learned from her patients, offering hope and encouragement. She’ll be joined in the program by Henda Salmeron, a breast cancer survivor and namesake of Henda’s Law; and Edith E. Eger, Ph.D., a prolific author who will speak on, “Coping with the Unexpected.”

“The presenters at this year’s Tyler Breast Cancer Conference are leaders in the fields of medical oncology, surgery, and research,” said Dr. Vukelja. “We encourage Tyler-area residents and the medical community to attend and learn more about the latest developments in breast cancer prevention, diagnosis, and treatment.”

The educational session for practitioners on Saturday, March 28 is designed to provide a comprehensive review of the latest advances in the clinical aspects of breast cancer research. Physicians, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, nurses, and radiologic technologists qualify for continuing medical education credit.
