Texas Oncology is not yet able to provide COVID-19 vaccines to patients, but we strongly encourage our patients to get the vaccine where it is available. While we look forward to the opportunity to vaccinate patients, Texas Oncology cannot do so until we receive additional vaccine doses from Texas State Department of Health Services, which controls vaccine distribution. Patients may check with their primary care physician, local pharmacy, or a local vaccination hub provider to see if vaccines are available, and visit the Texas COVID-19 vaccine provider locations map for information on vaccine sites near you.
In a few of our locations, we had a very small number of vaccine doses remaining after vaccinating our staff of healthcare workers, following state guidelines. We allocated those few doses to patients, on a case by case basis – prioritizing patients who are most at risk, per state and CDC clinical guidelines. We are contacting individual patients directly about the vaccine in these very few instances.
Texas Oncology is open and accepting patients. Our comprehensive safety protocols remain in effect, including requiring face masks, limiting or prohibiting visitors at our locations, conducting patient screening, social distancing, and expanding the use of telemedicine.
