Robert M. Steckler, M.D.

General Summary

Robert M. Steckler, M.D., is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons.


Dr. Steckler attended Union College in Schenectady, New York, and received his undergraduate degree at Columbia College and his medical degree from New York Medical College in New York. He completed his internship and residency at Long Island Jewish Medical Center in New Hyde Park, New York, where he was later chief resident in surgery. Dr. Steckler completed his fellowship in surgical oncology at M.D. Anderson Hospital and Tumor Institute in Houston. He was a major in the Medical Corps, USAR, and chief of head and neck surgery and surgical oncology at Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio. He is a professor of dental oncology at Baylor College of Dentistry in Dallas. Prior to joining Texas Oncology, Dr. Steckler was in private practice and founded Southwest Surgical Oncology Associates. He is currently director of Surgical Oncology at Baylor Regional Medical Center of Plano. He has authored and co-authored over fifty articles in peer reviewed journals and has published multiple papers on surgical history.

Dr. Steckler is a member of Society of Head and Neck Surgeons, American Society for Head and Neck Surgery, Society of Surgical Oncology, American Association of Endocrine Surgeons, Dallas County Medical Society, American Society for Clinical Oncology, and M.D. Anderson Associates. He was a member of the Legislative Task Force on Cancer in Texas.

Dr. Steckler was a past recipient of New York Regents College Scholarship, American Medical Association Physician Recognition Award, and received a Certificate of Appreciation by American Society of Maxillofacial Prosthetics as well as a Certificate of Merit, Maxillofacial Prosthetic Therapy.
