General Summary

Gayle is the Director of Texas Oncology’s Genetic Risk Evaluation and Testing (GREAT) Program. Gayle joined the GREAT program in 2012. To bring genetic evaluations to more patients, the GREAT Program was formed to train Texas Oncology providers to offer genetic evaluations in Texas Oncology clinics across the state. Gayle and a team of 4 genetic counselors provides education and operational support to Texas Oncology Providers who participate in the GREAT program to ensure high quality genetic evaluations.

In addition, Gayle is active in the US Oncology Network GREAT Program as a past executive committee member, past chair of the education committees and an active chair of the annual education conference planning committee. Gayle feels strongly about the importance of knowing your family history and genetic testing for hereditary cancer in order to prevent cancer.

Prior to being part of the Texas Oncology team, Gayle was a genetic counselor in a busy genetics clinic for the Seton Healthcare system in Austin, Texas providing prenatal, pediatric, cancer and adult genetic counseling for 6 years.

When not teaching about genetics Gayle loves to read, swim and spend time with her family. Gayle lives in Austin with her husband and two daughters.
