Texas Oncology is Setting the Thanksgiving Table for Cancer Patients

It’s the time of year for family, friends, and feasts. Gathering around the table to share a great meal and good conversation. But for cancer patients and their families, it can be a trying time as well due to the stress of treatments and travel. That’s why the Texas Oncology family is stepping up to help some incredible families have a more enjoyable holiday.

The staff at Texas Oncology–Mount Pleasant Patty and Bo Pilgrim Cancer Center delivered Thanksgiving meal baskets to five patients and their families, making the holiday a little easier and allowing patients to save their energy and enjoy time with loved ones.

“We are family here at Texas Oncology and our patients become an extended part of that family when they are fighting the challenges of cancer,” said Tammy Daniel, patient benefit representative at Texas Oncology–Mt. Pleasant Patty and Bo Pilgrim Cancer Center. “Being able to serve them with a Thanksgiving meal is not only natural, it blesses us to be able to give to some of the most amazing warriors in our extended families.”

But the giving doesn’t stop there. Texas Oncology–Paris is planning to deliver 45 meal baskets throughout the holiday season.

Additionally, Texas Oncology–Sherman staff provided Thanksgiving meal vouchers from Albertson’s to five deserving patients and their families.

Dealing with the emotional and physical struggle of cancer treatment is challenging enough. That’s why Texas Oncology is putting patients first and helping ease the added stress of the holiday season through these donations.

“Thanksgiving is about gathering with family and friends to celebrate our blessings,” Daniel added. “We want all of our patients to not only see, but to also celebrate the many blessings we’ve been given.”
