1/30/2023 - The U.S. cancer death rate has fallen 33% since 1991, and Texas is also seeing this downward trend, according to a new report from the American Cancer Society. Angela S. Kueck, M.D., FACOG, FACS, at Texas Oncology–Austin North Suite 300 and Horizon Circle, discussed the impacts of the pandemic on delayed screenings, acknowledging the use of telemedicine but emphasizing the importance of routine screening like Pap tests.

1/22/2023 - In 2022, 65-year-old Julee Ware was diagnosed with stage IIB cervical cancer. Supported by family, friends, and her three beloved rescue dogs, Julee worked hard to look for the hidden blessings in her journey. Guided by her care team, she received radiation, chemotherapy, and brachytherapy treatments—even becoming the first patient at Texas Oncology to undergo the Signatera blood matching program. Julee received a clean bill of health in November, and she credits her Texas Oncology care team with leading her down the road to recovery.

11/13/2022 - In 2020, 68-year-old Robert Walker was diagnosed with stage IV pancreatic cancer, which typically has a poor prognosis with less than five percent of patients expected to survive more than five years. Through good days and not-so-good days, Robert maintained a positive attitude. Thanks to the multidisciplinary care he received from Texas Oncology, Robert has responded so well to every component of treatment from chemotherapy to surgery, that he has far outlived the traditional survival for patients with stage IV pancreatic cancer as he continues to fight this deadly disease.

10/23/2022 - When Allison Bond, 36, was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2020, she had no idea the number of resources she and her family would need to deal with a shocking diagnosis right as a global pandemic was emerging. With the strength and support of her multidisciplinary care team, Moya Griffin, M.D., FACS, breast surgeon, Texas Breast Specialists–Austin North; Michael Herman, M.D., radiation oncologist, Texas Oncology–Austin North Radiation Oncology and Round Rock; and Michelle Ashworth, M.D., medical oncologist, Texas Oncology–Round Rock, Allison underwent treatment with resilience, grace and optimism. Referred to by Texas Breast Specialists, she was able to turn to outside resources for additional support, including Wonders & Worries and the Breast Cancer Resource Center (BCRC).
