FREDERICKSBURG, Texas (March 1, 2021) – Texas Oncology announced today that Alyssa Rieber, M.D., has joined the cancer care team at Texas Oncology–Fredericksburg. Dr. Rieber is board certified in medical oncology, hematology, medical quality, and internal medicine, and has nearly 20 years of experience as a physician.
“I look forward to serving the Fredericksburg community and joining the team of dedicated physicians and staff at Texas Oncology–Fredericksburg,” said Dr. Rieber. “As a cancer survivor, I feel that my experience has made me more compassionate and connected with my patients and their families. I’m hopeful that through a combination of in-person and telemedicine visits, I’ll continue making those strong connections with patients in Fredericksburg.”
Prior to joining Texas Oncology–Fredericksburg, Dr. Rieber spent more than 13 years as a physician and educator at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, where she most recently served as chair in the department of general oncology and fellowship program director of the division of cancer medicine. She also served as medical director, division of MD Anderson Oncology program at Lyndon B. Johnson Hospital.
Dr. Rieber completed a fellowship in hematology and oncology at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center and completed a residency in internal medicine at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston. She received a medical degree from University of Alabama School of Medicine in Birmingham.
