After being diagnosed with an aggressive blood cancer, Ryan Smith needed an allogeneic stem cell transplant, a procedure that removes all stem cells from the bone marrow and replaces them with healthy donor stem cells. Dr. Ryan Tierney of Texas Oncology−South Austin and Dr. Ramakrishnan the Texas Transplant Institute at St. David’s South worked together to preform the procedure which, up until that point, had never been done in Austin before.
