Texas Oncology is a pioneer in community-based care, founded on the idea that patients deserve access to the best cancer care available, the confidence to fight cancer, and the critical support of family and friends nearby. Most Texas Oncology patients receive care in an outpatient setting at comprehensive cancer centers in Waco, with physicians also treating patients at clinics in Clifton, Groesbeck, Mexia, Hillsboro, and Gatesville.
Diagnostic imaging, lab services, and pharmacies are close-at-hand to make the process more manageable. Knowledgeable and supportive teams provide chemotherapy, radiation therapy, genetic risk evaluation and testing, and other critical services. Radiation therapy services are expanding under radiation oncologist Dr. Nathan Kim.
Through collaboration with Dallas-based blood and marrow transplant teams, Waco-area patients can receive evaluation and treatment locally on a monthly basis. Patients also have opportunity to participate in clinical trials for a broad range of promising treatments. Texas Oncology, through its affiliation with US Oncology Research, has played a role in more than 50 FDA-approved cancer-fighting drugs, nearly one-third of all cancer therapies approved by the FDA to date.
Texas Oncology knows that treating cancer and blood disorders doesn’t stop with science. Being able to catch a nearby sunset over the Waco Suspension Bridge, spend time at Lake Waco, or stroll through Cameron Park Zoo with friends and loved ones, is simply good medicine. Texas Oncology’s cancer care in Waco pairs leading-edge science with the healing power of community support.
