Dr. Colin Koon specializes in gynecologic oncology. He is board eligible in both Gynecologic Oncology and Obstetrics and Gynecology. His specific surgical area of interest lies in the advancement of minimally invasive surgery, including the daVinci Robotic Surgical System, for the treatment of gynecologic cancers. Dr. Koon serves on the US Oncology GYN Research Committee. His clinical research interest lies in the advancement of treatment for ovarian cancer and in the development of early markers for ovarian cancer.

Education Details:

Dr Koon was born and raised in Texas. He earned his B.A. degree in 1988 from Baylor University in Waco, TX. He then completed both M.D. and Ph.D. degrees in 1998 as an NIH-sponsored fellow at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School in Dallas, TX. Dr. Koon completed his residency training in Obstetrics and Gynecology in 2003 ast the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston. His fellowship in Gynecologic Oncology was completed in 2005 at the Brigham and Women's Hospital, Dana-Faber Cancer Institute, Harvard Medical School in Boston, MA.
