Texas Oncology Sponsors “Walk for the Cure” at Colonial Golf Tournament

Participants Pledge for Breast Cancer Research in Daylong Event
05/28/2010
Texas Oncology is proud to be the sole sponsor for the “Walk for the Cure” fundraising program on Saturday, May 29, during the 2010 Crowne Plaza Invitational at Colonial.

Texas Oncology has partnered with Susan G. Komen for the Cure Tarrant County to host the daylong event, which aims to increase cancer awareness and contribute to research through a pledge program. The “Walk for the Cure” program invites tournament spectators to collect pledges for each step taken throughout the day on the golf course.

Participants can pick up a free pedometer and information on breast cancer at the Komen booth at the main entrance, or the Komen Lite trailer at the 13th hole. Volunteers and Texas Oncology physicians will be on hand to distribute the pedometers and discuss breast cancer awareness, prevention, early detection, and treatment.

We are so honored to partner with Susan G. Komen for the Cure for this event,” said Dr. Cristi Aitelli, medical oncologist at Texas Oncology. “Not only does breast cancer affect patients, but it also affects their families, friends, and caregivers. This event is a way to recognize all the individuals affected by a breast cancer diagnosis, and Texas Oncology is thrilled to contribute to this great cause, right here in Fort Worth.”

To participate, pledge forms are available online at www.KomenTarrant.org.
