Texas Oncology Celebrates Local Research Making A Difference In The Future Of Cancer Care

09/23/2009

What:
Texas Oncology will honor and celebrate the contributions of Central Texas cancer patients to the fight against cancer with a picnic at Zilker Park. Many local patients participate in important clinical trials that help provide critical information to physicians and researchers about cancer, its growth, and new ways to fight the most aggressive cancers.

Clinical trials offer patients the first opportunity to benefit from the most promising and advanced research studies while receiving the best current standard treatment. Participating patients are volunteers who not only expand their treatment options, but ultimately provide a tremendous service to other patients and physicians as they continue to search for new and better ways to identify and treat cancer.

Cancer patients, doctors, and staff members will share their personal stories about clinical trials and their involvement in this important research taking place right here in Central Texas.
