Dr. William McNamara is board certified in surgery and completed his fellowship training in head and neck surgical oncology at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, one of the nation’s premier cancer treatment institutes, under the direction of the world authorities in head and neck cancer treatment and reconstruction. He has a special interest in minimally invasive and trans-oral surgery, robotics, and salivary gland malignancy and surgery.

Dr. McNamara specializes in melanoma and non melanoma skin cancer, skin cancer resection and facial reconstruction, soft tissue sarcomas, benign and malignant thyroid conditions, thyroid cancer, parathyroid disease, benign and malignant tumors of the mandible, head and neck cancer from an unknown primary, pharynx/esophagus and hypopharynx cancer, nasal cavity and sinus cancer, cervical lymphadenopathy, benign and malignant conditions of the larynx.

Procedures

Dr. McNamara performs the following procedures: trans oral robotic surgery and laser surgery for benign and malignant conditions of the head and neck, Melanoma and non melanoma skin cancer resection and reconstruction, mandible resection and reconstruction, tongue base and tonsil surgery, tongue cancer resection and reconstruction, thyroid surgery, minimally invasive parathyroid surgery, neck dissection, tracheal surgery, salivary gland surgery, pharynx and hypopharynx surgery, Larynx/vocal cord surgery, laryngoscopy and upper ebdoscopy, total and partial laryngectomy, nasal cavity and sinus surgery, vascular access surgery, feeding tube placement, tracheostomy and airway surgery, sentinel lymph node biopsy, and skull base surgery.

An important goal of Dr. McNamara’s is to provide patients with advanced surgical care for head and neck cancer with an emphasis on quality of life issues, such as retaining a patient’s ability to speak and swallow and maintaining normal appearance. 

He works closely with highly skilled and trained plastic surgeons, radiation therapists, chemotherapists, nurses, and speech therapists to create individualized treatment plans that keep the cure of cancer as the main goal.
