Texas Oncology Overview

Founded in 1986, Texas Oncology is a pioneer in high quality community-based cancer care. Texas Oncology is an independent oncology practice with more than 420 physicians and 175 locations across Texas and southeastern Oklahoma, including 48 comprehensive cancer centers. Texas Oncology’s community-based approach of integrated subspecialty oncology care enables patients to receive leading-edge treatment while living at home and receiving the critical support of family and friends. More than 50,000 new cancer patients were treated at Texas Oncology last year.

Leading innovation in quality cancer care for Texans
Texas Oncology uses evidencedbased best practices to guide patient treatment across the network in a program known as Pathways, in collaboration with the National Cancer Collaborative Network. Texas Oncology physicians use these Pathways and programs to support genetic risk assessment, disease management, cancer survivorship, and advance care planning to improve the quality of the patients’ cancer journey.

At our comprehensive cancer centers, our patients access much of their treatment under one roof from a knowledgeable and supportive cancer care team, including chemotherapy, patient navigation, social services, nancial consultation, radiation, access to clinical trials, X-rays, PET, CT, other diagnostic imaging, lab, and pharmacy services.

Texas Oncology was selected to participate in the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) Oncology Care Model (OCM), a new initiative that transforms how cancer care is delivered. The OCM emphasizes the overall experience and outcomes for patients.

Participation in leading-edge clinical trials
Patients who are treated at Texas Oncology have the opportunity to participate in some of the most promising national clinical trials for a broad range of cancers. Texas Oncology is afliated with US Oncology Research, which has played a role in nearly 60 FDAapproved cancer-ghting drugs, about one-third of all cancer therapies approved by the FDA to date.

At any given time, more than 100 national clinical trials are open throughout the network.
